Over the past few years, IV therapy has gained popularity for its ability to quickly and efficiently boost energy levels, enhance metabolism, cure hangovers, and bring many other benefits to general health and well-being.
In this article, we’re shining a spotlight on IV therapy and tell you everything you need to know before booking your treatment.
What Is IV Therapy?
IV therapy is a convenient way of delivering vitamins, minerals, and hydration directly into your bloodstream for immediate absorption and use by your body. This type of treatment completely bypasses the digestive system, allowing a 100% absorption rate of the nutrients, as opposed to only 20-50% if they were administered orally. You’ll feel the beneficial effect of IV therapy quickly and it will last for days.
IV drips consist of a unique blend of vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes that can help restore hydration, improve antioxidant levels, boost energy, brighten your skin, support healthy hair and nails, enhance metabolism, and much more. An IV solution can be customized to meet your individual health and wellness needs and achieve maximum effect.

How Does IV Therapy Work?
IV therapy is administered using the same methods that are used by hospitals. A nurse inserts a needle into a vein in your elbow or the back of your hand and pushes a small tube called a catheter over the needle. Once the needle is removed, the catheter remains in your vein and delivers nutrients to your body. The nurse will continue to monitor you for any reactions and ensure the IV stays in place during treatment.

To ensure the safety of your treatment, Reset IV formulas are administered by highly trained medical professionals who have extensive experience in providing IV therapy in hospitals and clinics. Our priority is ensuring that you are receiving a treatment that meets the highest safety standards using only top-of-the-line sterile equipment. Common side effects
The most common side effects of IV fluid therapy include:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Skin irritation
- Discomfort
- Bruising
- Itching
- Inflammation
- Redness
- Muscle Stiffness.
Infection
The IV drip bypasses the skin, which is the body's natural defense mechanism and creates a direct path for bacteria into the bloodstream. This means that if your skin or the needle are not properly cleaned before the nurse inserts the IV, you risk getting an infection. However, the risk of blood infection is minimal with proper sterilization and hygiene.
Phlebitis
Phlebitis is the inflammation of the vein around the spot where the needle is inserted. Phlebitis can be caused either by a needle that is not properly sterilized, a needle that is too large for the vein, or by the ingredients in the IV solution. The symptoms of phlebitis include pain in the arm, swelling, tenderness, and redness around the insertion site.
Phlebitis is among the most common complications of IV therapy. Fortunately, it is rarely a serious condition and can be treated simply by applying warm compresses or taking anti-inflammatory medications.
Infiltration
Infiltration occurs when the tip of the catheter becomes dislodged or the drip passes through the wall of the blood vessel and pushes through the other side of the vein. This causes the IV fluid to leak from the vein into surrounding cell tissue.
Infiltration is quite a common side effect of IV therapy, in most cases without any serious consequences. If infiltration takes place, the nurse will simply stop the flow of fluids into your bloodstream.
Extravasation
Unlike infiltration, extravasation is caused by fluids like anti-nausea drugs, sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride, or concentrated potassium chloride that can damage the tissue. The symptoms of extravasation include pain and burning sensation at the needle insertion site as well as blistering and skin sloughing. Extravasation can lead to infections and local tissue and muscle damage.
You should not receive IV therapy if you suffer from congestive heart failure or kidney disease or if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the drip. If you have any medical conditions or allergies, you should consult your doctor before the treatment to avoid any complications. Our physicians will also provide a medical consultation free of charge and approve your treatment before you start the therapy.
