Indoor Bars

Mac's Club Deuce

Mac’s Club Deuce is Miami’s oldest bar, purchased in 1964 by a regular named Mac Klein who remained its owner for more than five decades. This poorly lit and smoke-heavy space that uses the same old-school cash register as when it opened its doors in 1926 attracts both long-time customers and out-of-town visitors. Today, it is his wife Mary who runs the Deuce, as the spot is known among locals.

Club Deuce was famously frequented by the cast of Miami Vice. In fact, the neon sign that still hangs above the bar was installed by the television show’s crew. But its reputation soared even more after Anthony Bourdain featured it on his shows No Reservations, The Layover, and Parts Unknown, calling it one of his “favorite places on Earth.”

Here you can choose between domestic brews, craft beers, and brews imported from England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Mac’s Club Deuce doesn’t serve food, although there are plenty of take-out joints nearby if you want to grab a quick bite.

A self-proclaimed upscale dive bar, Mama Tried is a low-key spot where locals hang out in a dimly lit interior with ‘70s style decor right down with leather banquets and gold disco lamps. The bar was opened in 2018 by Dan Binkiewicz, founder of Purdy Lounge, Sweet Liberty and Blackbird Ordinary and Mauricio Lacayo of The Bend Liquor Lounge.

Mama Tried offers a mix of old-school drinks along with new takes on classic cocktails, created by Sweet Liberty’s Tyler Kitzman. There’s also a good selection of beer and wine. The food menu is created by former Miami Heat chef Michael Jacobs and features PB&J, grilled cheese, bologna sandwiches, and other nostalgic dishes.

There’s no shortage of entertainment either, from a Pac-Man arcade game and jukebox to a pool table, TVs, and a Bookleggers used-book library. The music offering is varied too and includes R&B Tuesdays, country music Thursdays, and weekends featuring local DJs.
