The Best Nightlife in Miami
The Miami nightlife scene is nothing short of iconic. Whether you prefer mega-clubs, hip live music venues, neighborhood dive bars, or laid-back lounges, the city has no shortage of cool and unique spots to keep you partying from dusk to dawn. Here’s where to find them.
Clubs
E11even Miami
Miami’s E11even is one of the hippest nightclubs in the country. The only 24/7 Ultraclub in the world, it is known for bringing in popular DJs like The Chainsmokers, DIPLO, Steve Aoki, and Zedd and stars such as Usher, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Vin Diesel. The club even has an in-house audio technician in charge of maintaining the specially designed state-of-the-art Pioneer sound system. In the morning, E11even turns into a day club where you can watch a game on one of the large TV screens, sip cocktails, and relax.
Do Not Sit On The Furniture
Do Not Sit On The Furniture is packed with locals who are more interested in good music than spotting celebrities. If you are looking for an intimate late-night setting where you can lose yourself in music, this is the right place for you. Partially owned and operated by internationally renowned DJ-producer Behrouz and Electric Pickle co-owner Will Renuart, the club is dedicated to exploring the underground music scene in Miami and beyond.
Club Space
For almost two decades, downtown-located Club Space has been Miami’s after-hours club of choice. The club’s resident and guest DJs include big names such as Ms. Mada, Danyelino, Allan Gallego, and Thunderpony. Renowned for its electronic music and stunning light and sound effects, Club Space will put you in the party mood in no time.
Bars
Mac’s Club Deuce
Mac’s Club Deuce is Miami’s oldest bar. This poorly lit and smoke-heavy space that still uses the same old-school cash register as when it opened its doors in 1926 attracts both long-time customers and out-of-town visitors. The bar was purchased in 1964 by a regular named Mac Klein who added “Mac” to the bar’s name and remained its owner for more than five decades. Today, it is his wife Mary who runs the Deuce, as this legendary bar is affectionately known among locals.
Club Deuce was famously frequented by the cast of Miami Vice, but its reputation really soared after Anthony Bourdain called it one of his “favorite places on Earth” and featured it on his shows No Reservations, The Layover, and Parts Unknown.
Grails Sports Bar
Wynwood’s only sports bar, Grails—whose name refers to all those highly sought-after sneakers that are hard to obtain—is decorated with collectibles like Yeezys, Jordans, and Back to the Future limited editions. But the sneaker obsession doesn't stop here. Grails’ most popular cocktail, "Satisfy Your Sole," made with vodka, lime, ginger, watermelon, and lemon verbena, is served in Air Jordan ceramic replicas. The bar boasts more than sixty TV screens throughout its indoor and outdoor seating areas, offering a perfect view of your favorite game no matter where you’re seated.
Broken Shaker
Miami is known as one of America’s best cocktail cities, and it owes much of its reputation to Broken Shaker. Once a pop-up bar, Broken Shaker found its permanent home in 2012 at the art deco Freehand Miami Hotel, which also houses the popular 27 Restaurant. The bar soon gained a national reputation, got two James Beard Award nominations, and opened outposts in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
One of the highlights is the expansive backyard complete with a pool, ping-pong table, and colorful furniture. Here, the main attraction are cocktails handcrafted with infusions and syrups made from herbs found in the bar’s onsite garden. For day drinkers, cocktails and lunch are served poolside from noon to 5 pm on weekdays.
Poker
Hialeah Park Racing & Casino
Hialeah Park Racing & Casino has one of the best poker rooms in the city with an exclusive waiting area, an overhead state-of-the-art music system, a full bar, and an exquisite outdoor terrace. You should try your luck at one of their 33 action-packed poker tables no matter what stakes you play.
Hialeah is also considered the world’s most beautiful horse race course and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Don’t miss its quarter horse live racing from November through February.
The Big Easy Casino
The Big Easy combines a casino, poker room, and greyhound racing facility in Hallandale Beach. In addition to over one thousand slot machines, the venue features the largest number of video poker games in Florida, virtual table games, free-to-enter poker tournaments, and nightly entertainment. The poker room offers 30 tables of Texas Hold 'em, 7 Card Stud, Omaha, and Omaha Hi-Lo that can accommodate everyone from beginners to seasoned players. The complex also includes several restaurants and bars, as well as an entertainment venue.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, also known as The Hard Rock Hollywood, is owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The comfortable 46-table poker room offers Limit and No Limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo, and 7-Card Stud. Seminole Casino is affiliated with the World Poker Tour and this is where poker tournaments in Miami are held. Besides betting, here you can watch some of the best music and comedy performances in South Florida, dine at the high-end Japanese restaurant Kuro, and take a dip in the luxurious lagoon-style pool.
Restaurants
KYU
A fashionable Asian fusion restaurant, KYU seamlessly combines Korean and American barbecue techniques in dishes like Korean fried chicken, in-house smoked duck breast, and crispy baby back ribs. The food is served in a spacious, industrial-style dining room featuring an imposing mural by 2Alas, a local street artist whose work you can spot around Wynwood. To quench your thirst, pick your favorite among classic cocktails with an Asian twist from KYU’s carefully curated cocktail list.
Ariete
Ariete is a cozy eatery on a tree-lined Coconut Grove avenue where Michael Beltran—one of Miami's top chefs—combines homestyle Cuban cooking with contemporary fine dining. The food is served in a casual setting with wood tables and pictures of the chef’s Cuban grandparents adorning the walls. On the menu, you’ll find delicacies such as a venison tartare, a sea urchin sandwich, and a monkfish stew, influenced by Beltran’s Cuban origins and his French culinary training.
Alter
Since its opening six years ago, not a day has gone by that this fine dining Wynwood spot hasn’t been packed to the brim. Chef Bradley Kilgore’s New American cuisine is focused on locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Perfect wine pairings with a selection that ranges from top producers to small artisanal growers accompany the desserts made by Alter’s pastry chef, Kilgore’s wife Soraya. But the best way to appreciate the food is through the chef’s five and seven-course tasting menus with specialties like French apple soup, smoked Peking duck, and celery and Szechuan caramel.
The restaurant has received multiple local and national awards including Food & Wine Best New Chef 2016, as well as three James Beard semifinalist nominations.
Games
loftVR Arcade & Next Gen Studio
The loftVR Arcade & Next Gen Studio is the first interactive virtual reality arcade in Miami and the only place in South Florida that showcases VR featuring the HTC VIVE virtual reality headset with ultra-high visual resolution. With a collection of over 30 games to choose from, you and your friends will be entertained for hours.
GameTime Miami
GameTime Miami is a mega arcade spread over two floors of the Shops at Sunset Place Mall. It offers 165 video games, ride simulators, prize machines, and a separate pool table room. Here you can play everything from retro classics like Skeeball and Air Hockey and gamer favorites including DDR and SnoCross to Indy 500 and Cycraft. To take a break from gaming, head to the newly refurbished restaurant equipped with more than 70 large HDTVs and a full bar.
Extreme Axe Throwing Miami
Extreme Axe Throwing is South Florida’s first indoor axe throwing and archery venue. To play, you can choose between traditional wooden sport targets and classic interactive targets as you take turns throwing lightweight axes inside fenced-in lanes. Or how about giving an interactive axe throwing game a try? If this is your first time throwing axes, rest reassured, you will be assigned an “axepert” who will teach you throwing tips and tricks.
After the game, you can relax and have a drink—unlike some other axe-throwing venues, Extreme Axe serves both beer and wine—in the lounge with breathtaking views of downtown Miami.
